Meet Your Doctor
Dr. Andrew “Blake” Brown grew up around the dental profession – his father is an orthodontist in Orange Park, Florida where Blake grew up. He received his undergraduate education at Harvard University and then ventured south to “Tarheel country” to obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 2013. After graduation, Dr. Brown sought advanced training and completed a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, HI.
Feeling a desire to see the world as he started in his new profession, Dr. Brown spent much of his early career working in unique locations around North America and around the world while he developed his skills and experience. He and his wife Ali worked for the Indian Health Service in Dillingham and Ketchikan, Alaska for a few years before traveling overseas to work in private practice dentistry in the amazing country of New Zealand. He then worked in Durango from 2019 to 2021 in community health dentistry at Axis Oral Health Clinic. After one more stint in New Zealand, Dr. Brown and his growing family felt like something was calling them back to Durango and decided to make the Four Corners region their place to settle, make their lives and build his practice. Dr. Brown feels so fortunate to have found an amazing retiring dentist in Dr. Kent Haynes who was willing to entrust his life’s work and patients’ care to Dr. Brown for the future.
Dr. Blake Brown is passionate about providing top-level quality care to his patients in a relaxed and friendly environment. He offers a wide variety of dental services, and with each case he takes a meticulous approach to treatment planning that considers all aspects of the patient’s desires, potential limitations, past experiences and their overall oral and general health. He is constantly seeking to improve and hone his skills by participating in continuing dental education courses and opportunities in multiple subjects. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Colorado Dental Association, and the local San Juan Basin Dental Society. He has participated with volunteer dental projects like the Missions of Mercy dental clinics in Florida and North Carolina, and with an extended dental services trip in the country of Nepal.
When outside the office, Dr. Brown and his wife and two young children make the most of their time in this amazing part of the world we live in. You might just run into them hiking, biking, skiing, camping, rafting or enjoying one of the many well-known music events we’re fortunate to have in Southwest Colorado. They are excited to call Durango home, and they hope to share in its amazing resources and experiences with their patient family. Come in and say hello!
